Jeb Dunnick A kitchen sink blend based mostly on Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah (there’s some Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Counoise) made by Helen Keplinger, the 2016 Vermillion is about as charming and delicious as it gets. Black raspberries, cherries, strawberries, spice, some garrigue and leafy herbs all flow to a medium-bodied, balanced wine that delivers tons of pleasure. It’s a great value and I’d be thrilled to drink bottles over the coming 4-6 years. Vermillion is the brainchild of husband and wife team Helen Keplinger and DJ Warner. The quality of wine is based on the quality of all its inputs, good vineyards, smart farming, and pure winemaking. They make this wine from the vineyards to the bottle, working closely with grape growers from awesome little vineyard sites in Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and the Sierra Foothills. Vermillion is delicious, hand-crafted wine to be enjoyed any night of the week.
