Tessari family has been growing grapes at La Cappuccina, the site of an ancient chapel of Franciscan friars, for over a century. The vineyards, which surround the family villa, are locaed at Costalunga, in the Soave DOC production area of Verona in northern Italy. La Cappuccina is a certified organic wine estate since 1985.
“Madégo” is the name of the vineyard. Where the vines are planted today there was once alfalfa, and its cutting – in the dialect of the surrounding area – is referred to as “madégo”.
This is a red wine that should be drunk young in order to enjoy its full, fragrant fruit at its best. Its forthright bouquet displays berry fruit notes and well-integrated hints of oak. Well-balanced with soft tannins, the wine is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 10% Carmenère from the estate’s own vineyards.
